alvarinho
It gives body to unique and easily identifiable wines of personality and strong temperament. It is a vigorous caste, which requires some prudence in the control of the vegetable impetus, being, however, a little productive grape variety, with small curls and a high proportion of seeds. Historically, it was one of the first Portuguese varieties to be bottled on the spot, responsible for the success of the wines of the Monção and Melgaço sub-region. Alvarinho offers wines with high alcoholic potential, perfumed and delicate, with fragrant notes of peach, lemon, passion fruit, lychee, orange peel, jasmine, orange blossom and lemon balm. It has an enormous potential of aging, being able to live in perfect health until completing at least ten years of age.
trajadura
Of minhota origin, it is a caste of moderate acidity presenting high alcoholic maturations for the reference minhoto. It is a very long cycle variety, of early sacking and late maturation, with compact clusters of medium size, composed of yellowish-green berries, providing very high yields. Provides discrete aromas of peach, apricot, apple and ripe pear, assisted by pleasant sensations of orange blossom. Because it allows high alcoholic strength and moderate acidity, it is often used in batches as a useful tool for the softening of the region's wines.
It is the color that distinguishes and differentiates the Vinhão, of medium-sized bunches with medium berries and uniforms of black-blue color, producing black, dark and opaque wines, closed and almost impenetrable to light. It was these peculiar characteristics that made it so appealing in the Douro, thanks to the need to quickly extract the color for the Port. It is the most cultivated grape variety in the Vinho Verde region, offering rustic wines of very high acidity, notorious for the restless acidity.
